The Weekly Wizard: September 25, 2026

Despite the impending nor’easter, we were fortunate to fit in today’s trip to Boundless Adventures before the wind and rain arrived. Our fifth graders had a wonderful time climbing, connecting with friends, and spending time with their teachers from last year.

Back at Neary, our fourth graders spent the day building connections with fifth-grade teachers through activities including a leaf mosaic, math and probability challenges, a dice game, a LEGO teamwork project, and digital animation, along with specials and world language. They capped off the afternoon with music bingo, bringing a joyful day to a close. We look forward to gathering again at Monday’s Whole-School Meeting as we continue building the strong, connected community Neary is known for.

The race for wizard glory is on! The Great Neary Wizard Challenge is underway, with a Movie Party awaiting the top fundraising house in each grade!

Together, we’ve already unlocked No Homework Day! Details on the no homework day will be announced soon. Our next magical milestone? Pajama Day at $5,000!

Don’t forget to register! This week’s registration prize is Principal for the Day—a chance to trade your wizard hat for the principal’s chair! Winners will be announced Monday morning!

On Wednesday, September 23, the great horned owl rescued from Neary’s soccer net was released back into the wild. Several Neary students were able to be there to witness this special moment. Click the video below to watch the owl’s return!

To help students exit the building safely and efficiently at 3:00 p.m., we are asking families to gather on one of two sides of the sidewalk outside the main entrance. When facing the entrance, fifth-grade families should stand on the right, closest to the principal’s office and the Neary side of the building. Fourth-grade families should stand on the left, closest to the Central Office side/handicap parking spaces.

Students will exit through the corresponding doors: fifth graders through the door on the right and fourth graders through the door on the left. We believe this grade-level organization will improve the flow of students leaving the building.

The Neary Homework Club will begin on Tuesday, October 6, and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00–4:00 p.m. Our first session will run through Thursday, December 17. Families may register their child to attend on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or both days.

Neary’s Picture Day will be held on Monday, October 5. Families may preorder pictures through Lifetouch using Picture Day ID EVT8QG366. Students will also bring ordering information home after Picture Day.

The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough are seeking substitute teachers, nurses, and food service staff. Substituting is a flexible and meaningful way to support our students, schools, and community. Please review the flyer below or visit the District’s employment website to learn more and apply.

A community drive-thru flu clinic will be held at Algonquin Regional High School on Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. There is no copay, and insurance will be billed at no cost to participants. We met with our project team today and are pleased to share that approximately 67% of the Neary roof is now covered. The timing of this weekend’s anticipated storm is helpful, and we are hopeful that work can resume early next week.

Work will continue along the Central Office side of the building before moving toward the rear. Once the roof is fully covered, the team will begin drainage and other finishing work.
