Successful First Week!

Dear Neary Families,

What a fantastic first week of school it has been! Our classrooms and hallways are once again filled with the energy, excitement, and curiosity of our students, and it has been such a joy to welcome everyone back.

This week, students jumped right into building classroom communities, engaging in learning, and reconnecting with friends and staff. We are so proud of the way they are adjusting to new routines and bringing their best selves to school each day.

Thank you for all you have done to prepare your children for a successful start. From morning drop-offs to after-school pick-ups, supplies, and especially the staff luncheon on Wednesday, your support and partnership make such a difference in helping us begin the year smoothly.

We are looking forward to many more weeks of growth, discovery, and learning ahead. Here’s to a wonderful year together at Neary!

Warmly,
Kathleen Valenti
Principal

Instrument Rental Night

Dear Neary Families,

Between now and next Wednesday, every classroom will have seen a demonstration of each of the string and band instruments offered here at Neary. We will talk about chorus (our singing group), band, and strings. These are exciting offerings at Neary, and we love sharing them with students at the beginning of the year. If you are new to this program and/or have any questions, we will be hosting an informational Google Meet next Thursday, September 4, at 7pm.

If your child participated in band, strings, or chorus last year, they do not need any additional supplies, but if you have not done so already, please do let us know whether or not they will be continuing this year (via email or the registration page).

By clicking here (or visiting http://bit.ly/4iuShpU), you will find a letter introducing the program, a set of Frequently Asked Questions, and a list of required and suggested materials. This can also be found on our website at https://bit.ly/nearymusic. Our website includes links to the vendors’ rental flyers and links to rent directly through each of them. The deadline for registering and for renting an instrument is Wednesday, September 10th.

To join our Google Meet next Thursday, September 4, at 7pm, please use the following link (also found on our website). If you wish to attend, but are unable to attend, a recording will be available after the meeting on our website.

With thanks,
Lindsey Sherman, Neary School Band (lsherman@nsboro.k12.ma.us)
Leigh Spignese, Neary School Chorus and Strings (lspignese@nsboro.k12.ma.us)

Neary Lunch Group Opt-Out

Parents/Guardians,

If you do not give permission for your child to participate in a lunch group during the 2025-2026 school year at Neary, please complete this form by September 24.

Lunch bunches are one form of groups offered at Neary. They are an opportunity for students to build social relationships and gain skill sets for social situations. At different points during their time at Neary School (fourth and fifth grades), students may be invited to participate in one of these groups.

Students may be invited for several consecutive weeks or just as a friend/peer model for one week. Invitations may be suggested by Jennifer Matthews, School Psychologist, Jessica Dimitrov, Behavior Specialist, Stephanie Rooney, Speech and Language Pathologist, classroom teachers, and/or Kathleen Valenti, Principal.

Members of the group may be invited for a variety of reasons including bolstering their social skill set, being a new student, to help a child make friends, being a positive peer model, or earning recognition for engaging in exemplary Neary behaviors. This is an opportunity that includes all students at Neary School

Lunch groups can be facilitated by Ms. Matthews, Mrs. Dimitrov, Mrs. Rooney, and/or Southborough Youth and Family Services.
